At Farsight, we like to stay ahead of our competitors. That's why we became the UK's first BS8418-compliant remote monitoring station in 2005. We're still leading the field with better training and staff development and ever-faster response times.
We work from a purpose built, high security compound in Peterborough where we employ around 40 staff, most of whom are shift-workers involved in round-the-clock security monitoring. The old image of security staff being low-graders stuck in dead-end jobs has gone. Ours is a team of security professionals who enjoy regular training and opportunities for genuine career progression. They're alert, self-confident, and enthusiastic;
they really do want to stop criminals in their tracks.
Our building is not quite a fortress, but the next best thing. It's fenced and bombproof to BS5979 standards; it has its own backup generator; and all staff facilities are maintained internally behind a virtually impregnable two-door security entrance. As a last resort, we're supported by another remote backup station that takes over when all else fails.
Investment and opportunity from overseas
We began trading in 1996. In 2006 we were bought by Optex the Japanese company behind the well-known Redwall brand of passive infrared detectors. Optex saw the huge potential for remote monitoring in the UK. It began a long-term programme of investment in new systems and technology at Farsight.
Optex is the world's leading manufacturer of infrared detection devices. The company, which has been in business for 25 years, has a European subsidiary - Optex Europe - through which it intends to develop a range of European markets.
